Skin Rejuvenation
Dr Denning enjoys designing bespoke rejuvenation treatment packages to personalise your experience. She combines chemical peels, skin needling and mesotherapy treatments alongside home skin care advice to give you a smooth and glowing skin surface while also encouraging regeneration of the deeper layers that have been lost with age “Good skin never goes out of fashion!”
-
There are multiple treatments that can be performed to optimise skin rejuvenation including microneedling, skin peels of differing intensities, skin boosters and a bespoke skin care plan, usually we would recommend a combination of treatments personalised to suit your specific skin needs.
-
After a thorough skin consultation and examination, a treatment plan will be curated with your specific skin needs as well as lifestyle and budget in mind. Most of our in-clinic rejuvenation treatments require some form of numbing prior to the treatment and down time varies between treatment type:
Microneedling - the skin may look a bit red for about 24 hours and sensitive for 48 hours following that. It’s recommended no makeup is worn while the skin heals.
Skin peels - dry flakey skin is a common side effect of the treatment. Depending on the type, depth and intensity of the peel will determine how long and significant skin peeling will take place, it can vary from 1 to 10 days.
Skin boosters - most skin boosters leave some small visible bumps just under the skin. We suggest a day to allow for the product to diffuse into the skin and for the bumps to dissapear. As with any injectable treatment there is risk of bruising however this is usually minor if it occurs at all and makeup can be worn 12 hours after the treatment.
-
We advise to keep skin clean and hydrated using simple hydrating moisturisers. We ask you to minimise exercise and alcohol while the skin is healing. This will be a different duration for different treatments.
Anti Wrinkle Injections
By subtly softening the movement of selected facial muscles, fine lines and wrinkles can not only be smoothed but anti wrinkle injections can also prevent further skin ageing with this quick treatment.
-
Tiny injections are placed into specific muscles to soften their movement and in doing so minimise the appearance of fine lines and pores in the overlying skin. Our Doctors are experts at bespoke anti-wrinkle injection dosing, ensuring the most natural results, whatever your muscle pattern. The aim is to be able to maintain facial movement but soften any lines.
-
After a thorough consultation an individualised plan is made based on a combination of your desired outcomes and unique anatomy. A series of painless injections are injected into a few select facial muscles. After a few days you will start to notice the desired results with full outcomes visible at 2-4 weeks after treatment. Most anti-wrinkle treatments last between 3-5 months.
-
6-12 hours post treatment
Avoid touching the treatment site(s), avoid applying makeup or skincare to the treated area(s), keep skin clean. Minimise heavy exercise to avoid skin infection and potential shift of the active ingredient to unwanted muscles.
12-24 hours post treatment
Avoid drinking alcohol or taking over the counter blood thinners such as aspirin and ibuprofen to help prevent unnecessary bruising.
After injectable treatment avoid using actives in skin care such as retinoids and exfoliating acids.
Soft Tissue Filler
Dr Denning has a detailed knowledge of anatomy and understanding of Da Vinci’s golden proportions of the face. As such her whole face approach to facial revolumisation and restructuring is just as mathematical as it is artistic, giving her patients natural enhancements by replacing volume that has diminished over the years. Dr Denning is an authorised practitioner for Restylane, Teosyl, Juvederm and Belotero hyaluronic acid fillers.
-
As we age, our facial bones and fat depletes in some areas and gets augmented in others, often leaving unwanted shadows and the appearance of sagging. Hyaluronic acid gel is strategically injected into specific areas of the face in order to replace lost volume and structure in the face, restoring the framework that supports overlying skin and muscle. This results in a well rested and fresh appearance that no one else should really notice.
-
At Dr Catharine Denning LTD, all of our doctors are trained to understand the anatomy of aging and how to replace small amounts of lost volume resulting in a refreshed, age appropriate appearance. You will never leave our clinic looking over done or ‘not yourself’.
-
6-12 hours post treatment
Avoid touching the treatment site(s), avoid applying makeup or skincare to the treated area(s), keep skin clean. Minimise heavy exercise to avoid skin infection and potential shift of the active ingredient to unwanted muscles.
12-24 hours post treatment
Avoid drinking alcohol or taking over the counter blood thinners such as aspirin and ibuprofen to help prevent unnecessary bruising.
After injectable treatment avoid using actives in skin care such as retinoids and exfoliating acids.
Excessive Sweating Treatment
Hyperhidrosis is a common problem and is easily treated using several small prescription only injections under the arms or palms of hands. This quick treatment easily be done on your lunch break, keeping you dry and fuss free for around 6 months.
-
Tiny injections are placed just under the skins surface, these then acts on the sweat glands in the skin to reduce the production of sweat at a localised level.
-
After a medical consultation, numbing cream is applied to the treatment area to minimise discomfort. The treatment takes about 20 minutes in total and there is little to no down time. Effects tend to be noticeable a few days following treatment with maximal effect by 2-4 weeks. Duration of effect can last between 4 - 6 months and in some it can last up to a year.
-
Keep the treatment area clean and as dry as possible for 12 hours post procedure. It is advised not to exercise or drink alcohol for 12-24 hours following the treatment.
Profhilo®
Profhilo® is a skin remodelling injectable treatment designed for patients with ageing skin that is lacking volume and elasticity. It works by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin via the slow release of Hyaluronic Acid and drastically improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps to increase hydration and firmness across the face, neck and hands. As an authorised Profhilo® practitioner, Dr Denning recommends a course of at least two treatments to ensure the best results.
-
Several small injections of hyaluronic acid gel is injected in specially mapped points in the mid and lower face, neck, hands or body areas. After a few days the product is absorbed into the dermis of the skin to help hydrate and plump it. It also activates the cells in the skin (fibroblasts) to increase their production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid so that longer term skin plumpness can be achieved.
-
After a medical consultation, numbing cream is applied to ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. The treatment area is then mapped to ensure the safest injection points and maximal results possible. The skin is cleaned thoroughly and around 10 injections are performed leaving a small pocket of hyaluronic acid gel is left under the skin. The down time is around 1 day where the product boluses get absorbed into the skin in an even manner.
-
Keep the skin clean from makeup and active skincare for 12 hours. Avoid exercise and alcohol in this time to minimise risk of bruising and infection.
Home Skin Care
No one person’s skin is the same and so Dr Denning uses a variety of skin brands. Obaji, AlumierMD, Neostrata and Skintech all use evidence based, medical and prescription grade ingredients, to encompass a diversity of skin types and problems.
-
After a thorough bespoke medical and skin consultation, your doctor will advise a fully personalised skin care routine to suit your skin type, budget and help you achieve the results you desire. We ensure that our approach is holistic and so we usually make a longer term plan for your skin which will often include in clinic treatments to optimse your skin health once your skincare routine has been finalised.
-
We believe that skincare is the first step to looking and feeling your best self and so we only recommend products that have robust medical evidence behind them. Examples of brands that we recommend include ZO Skin Health, Obagi, Skin Better Science, Neostrata and Revision Skincare.
-
If we feel that your skin concern is not of a cosmetic nature then we will always refer you to the most appropriate skin specialist, we are lucky to have relationships with many of the worlds top dermatologists, plastic surgeons and skin therapy colleagues, so we have you covered no matter what your concern may be.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are the latest innovation within aesthetic medicine, and we are very excited to be offering them and achieving great results; they are a fantastic option for skin rejuvenation, restoring elasticity and skin tone, repairing damaged skin, and hydrating for an anti-ageing effect. Unlike soft tissue fillers, polynucleotides are bio-stimulatory and work on a cellular level within the skin to regenerate, repair, and rejuvenate ageing skin.
Your doctor will recommend a course of several polynucleotide treatments, depending on the area(s) being treated and your primary skin concerns, typically, this may be 2-4 treatments, spaced a month apart. Polynucleotides can also be combined into a layered treatment programme.
-
Polynucleotides are delivered into the skin using small injections, but they are not the same as the soft tissue fillers we use to add immediate facial volume. The products we use contain highly-purified chains of nucleotides or DNA fractions (originating from fish) which have a bio-stimulatory effect once injected into the skin, reducing free-radical activity, encouraging the production of new collagen and elastin, and causing increased hydration.
Once present and detected, the DNA fragments are perceived by the body as ‘damage’, albeit non-existent damage; signals are sent to instigate natural repair and regeneration within the skin cells to ‘heal’ – basically giving them a bit of a kickstart to make new cells, upregulating the fibroblasts to make more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, and evening out skin pigment by also affecting melanocyte regulation for repair.
Gradually this activity and rejuvenation will start to become outwardly visible with incremental improvements to skin quality, elasticity (tone), smoothness (texture), and plumpness (hydration).
-
After a thorough medical consultation, numbing cream is applied to ensure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. The skin is thoroughly cleansed, and the product is injected where required.
Results are not immediate like dermal fillers. In the weeks and months after treatment, you will gradually start to notice changes and improvements in skin quality as the polynucleotides activate your own skin cells to renew and rebuild new, more youthful tissue. The results will continue to improve after the treatment sessions finish, and we recommend a maintenance programme to keep you looking tip-top.
-
Expect some mild redness and swelling for up to 24 hours after polynucleotide treatment.
0-48 hours post-treatment
To mitigate potential skin infections, avoid yourself, or anyone else, touching the treated area(s) of skin for the rest of the day. Also, avoid applying makeup or any skincare products. Keep skin clean only as advised.
Avoid drinking alcohol or taking over-the-counter blood thinners such as aspirin and ibuprofen to help prevent unnecessary bruising. Do not massage or apply too much pressure to the treated area(s).
0-72 hours post-treatment
Do not use skincare products with active ingredients such as retinoids or exfoliating acids (AHAs etc.), avoid extremes of heat like saunas, steam rooms, or very hot baths, and do not expose the treated area(s) to direct sunlight.
Minimise exercise for a few days, ideally avoiding vigorous or strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours. Keep hydrated.
Sciton BBL HEROic and MOXI Laser Treatment
The BBL HEROic and MOXI from Sciton lasers are a formidable team of intelligent control pulsed light technology (BBL HEROic) and gentle, yet powerful fractionated laser (MOXI) used to achieve fantastic skin rejuvenation for anti-ageing, also ideal for those looking for options to maintain great skin as a prejuvenation treatment.
Individual or combined treatment is suitable for the face, neck, chest (decolletage), back, hands, legs, and arms, across all skin types treating unwanted hair, pigmentation, sun damage, uneven skin tone and texture, and signs of ageing.
-
The BBL HEROic treatment uses broadband light or intense pulsed light (IPL) energy combined with intelligent control and skin positioning system technology for optimal treatments and results every time. With several different options of light wavelength filters, we can treat a wide range of skin conditions and concerns including inflammatory active acne, redness (thread veins, rosacea, and other vascular lesions), signs of ageing (sagging or lax skin), anti-ageing by stimulating fibroblast activity, and pigmentation problems including age spots from sun damage (photorejuvenation), as well as hair removal.
The MOXI treatment (1927nm fractional laser) is quick; in as little as 8-10-minutes we can deliver non-ablative laser energy to correct the early signs of skin ageing and sun damage, leaving you glowing with a clear complexion by improving overall skin tone and texture over time. Treatment strength is adjusted according to your skin concerns from settings that prevent and refresh to stronger options to transform and renew. The laser targets water within your skin cells creating micro-coagulation zones of controlled trauma which initiate a natural healing response, and the formation of new collagen and elastin to improve skin quality.
BBL HEROic and MOXI can be combined to create a powerful synergistic pairing to improve the appearance of the skin in all skin types.
-
We ask that you avoid sun exposure to the treatment area(s) for a minimum of two weeks prior to your appointment; you must not have a tan at the time of treatment.
For added comfort, we will apply a cooling gel to the treatment area(s) before applying the light pulses from the BBL HEROic.
A topical numbing cream is used before treatment with MOXI, but you can expect to feel some warmth during treatment. It uses a single-use tip attached to the handpiece that is roller over the surface of the skin to deliver the laser energy controlled by a computerised system.
A treatment programme will include 2-4 sessions spaced a month apart. There is a little to no downtime with this treatment.
-
Expect your skin to feel warm and to look flushed, like you have spent too long in the sun for a few hours after treatment. Mild redness and possible swelling can last a few days, depending on the intensity of the treatment, with downtime of up to one week. Appropriate skincare products to use in the days following treatment, plus full aftercare advice is provided.
Avoid exposing the area(s) treated with light energy to direct sunlight for a minimum of two weeks post-treatment to avoid pigmentation changes caused by photosensitivity. Avoid extremes of heat like saunas, steam rooms, or very hot baths for up to 48 hours. Do not apply makeup to the face for 24 hours after treatment.
Hydrafacial
Hydrafacial is the ultimate facial treatment for improving skin health for life. Thorough detoxifying, deep cleansing, and hydration work together for immediate, noticeable results with no downtime. Whether it is a single treatment to clean and clear away dull, congested skin to get that ‘glow’ a couple of days before a special event or regular appointments to ensure your skin looks healthy and at its best all year round, Hydrafacial is the leading medi-facial. Hydrafacial removes dirt, oil, impurities, and dead skin cells using advanced, patented, Vortex hydradermabrasion technology. Bespoke serums replenish the skin with vital nutrients.
It is a great solution for unblocking congested, acne-prone skin, including blackheads, oily areas, and enlarged pores and for targeting skin ageing by improving fine lines, uneven skin tone, a dull complexion, and overall skin health.
-
Hydrafacial is much more than a typical beauty facial; it is a medi-facial using patented hydradermabrasion technology. It follows a six-step treatment protocol that detoxes, cleanses/exfoliates, uses brightening agents, extracts, hydrates, and finishes with light-based rejuvenation.
Each step is vital in promoting and restoring skin health. From lymphatic drainage to boost circulation and eliminate toxins to the cleansing and exfoliation of dead skin and impurities with deep cleaning and vacuum suction, followed by washing with gentle glycolic and salicylic skin brightening and extraction agents to lift debris, clogged pores and blackheads, to infusion with hydrating serums rich in antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate, and collagen stimulation and redness reducing LED lights to complete the glow. We offer several bespoke Hydrafacial treatment options targeting the medi-facial protocols for different skin concern needs.
We can also include additional targeted booster serums; our aesthetician will recommend the one that will work best for you.
-
After a thorough medical and skincare consultation, our skin specialist aesthetician will ready you for your Hydrafacial. Treatment uses a pen-like handpiece fitted with a single-use, specialised vortex tip that is moved over the surface of your skin to cleanse and extract debris or deliver nutrient-rich serums. The Hydrafacial device also uses vacuum suction to remove the debris and specialised liquids to cleanse. Moisture is maintained on the skin throughout hydradermabrasion treatment, avoiding the irritation associated with microdermabarasion. (You can even look at the bottle afterwards to see how much ‘gunk’ was removed!).
A Hydrafacial is very relaxing, taking 30-45 minutes, and many enjoy knowing that the pampering and relaxation are also doing wonders for their skin.
Skin will feel refreshed and well hydrated for up to a week after a single treatment; we recommend monthly or bimonthly Hydrafacials as an adjunct alongside home skincare regimes and in-clinic treatments for improving and maintaining skin health.
-
There is no downtime or expected irritation from Hydrafacial due to the gentle nature of the treatment. You should expect some mild pink/redness for up to an hour afterwards because of the deep cleansing action. With a refreshing glow, you can immediately return to your normal activities.
You should avoid applying makeup to the skin immediately after a Hydrafacial to allow your skin to absorb all the nourishing serums applied.
